Siamese 2 by RamonaQ Siamese 2 by RamonaQ
This is a painting of one of the lovely and talented :iconotleuser:'s deviations. You can find the reference photo here: [link]
She was kind enough, long ago, to give me permission to paint it. This one is watercolour, 6" by 9". :)

I should get just about caught up on messages this evening - I'm using my wife's computer while mine is in the shop, and her study kind of gives me the creeps. :D

Thanks very much! That one didn't last very long - I had it hung literally for about ten minutes. :D When I saw the reference photo, I just knew I had to have a go at it. :)

Thank you so much! This one is probably my favourite cat painting; I like painting for fun because I can take risks a little more as far as highlights and stuff. :)

Thank you so much! I'm really proud of thsi one; I think I like painting siamese more than the other varieties of cat. THere's just something kind of mysterious/cool about them. :)

:D Thanks very much! This one was pretty popular - I really liked painting it; I kind of wish it had stayed around the gallery a little longer, but it was bought right away after I put it on the wall.

:D If I paint something I really like, there's a real temptation to not sell it, but I try to remind myself that this is my job and I can always do it again.

Guess you have to think like that, or else you'll end up sitting in a corner, hugging your paintings ^^

:D I definitely have more art than space at home. I don't know what I'd do if I wasn't selling it! :D

Thank you very much! I seem to be most comfortable with watercolour - it just seems to come pretty naturally to me.
I'm quite impressed by your gallery as well - you've got an amazing hand with pastels, and your pencil work is incredible.

The painting is wonderful, and reminds me of my cat growing up a blue point Siamese that was so smart he loved to play hide and seek. I will endeavor to pay much more attention to your work now, I think there is a lot I can learn from it, and I intend to work very hard at perfecting my way of doing things from now on.

Regards,

Warren

Thank you so much! I'm kind of proud of this one, myself, but I have to give a lot of credit to the reference photo, which is really a stunner. The eyes were a challenge - that's pretty much why i decided to give it a go - to see if I could come close to getting the eyes right. :)
I'm watching you as well - your landscape technique is absolutely brilliant; I'm always afraid to try landscapes in watercolour because I'm not very comfortable with washes. I think we may wind up learning from one another here! :D

Your most welcome it's a great piece of work.

Thanks for adding me to your friends list, I put my studies into scraps and should have new work to post very soon. I definitely agree that we can learn from each other, I most certainly can learn from your work, and if you get a thing or two from me that wonderful. Just wrapping up the details of the sale of my company, and should be hard at painting in the near future.

Regards,

Warren

Wow, high praise indeed from someone as amazing as you. :) Thanks! That blue is a very old cerulean and nothing else. I rarely use colours right out of the tube, but I inherited my grandfather's paint supplies and have found a few little items in the box that are a little hard to come by.

It has long been discontinued, I'm afraid. I can't recall the company's name, but I'd never heard of them, so that probably means they're not around anymore, either. I'm just glad a dab of watercolour lasts so long.

I wish I had more of it. I'm dreading the day it runs out. :D It's like taht Ballerina painting - I used a rose madder that was old as the hills, and broke the tube applying it to the palette. It was so frustrating because I know it's nowhere to be found.
